I don’t know whether or not I actually agree with this, but in theory it is a good idea. Diabetes and other weight-related health issues is a real problem in America. Part of this is definitely due to the consumption of sugary drinks. However, what does this say about Americans that Bloomberg even felt the need to have to ban sugary drinks above 16 ounces? I feel that people should have the self- control to not consume that much of anything by themselves. Then there are the people who buy larger drinks to share between a group because it is more convenient. I am definitely guilty of that one when I go out, especially to a MacDonald. I feel that the idea behind this law is good and well intentioned, but it needs to be thought out better. There are better ways to help with America’s weight problems than banning cups above 16 ounces.
